Service Learning combines meaningful community service activities with formal learning in the classroom.
It includes instruction and reflection to enrich the entire experience, teach civic responsibility and strengthen communities. It endeavours to have students involved in activities that support the community’s needs whilst developing the students as ethical citizens with strong character.
Service Learning Projects
Operation Op Shop
Each year, PCACS hosts Operation Op Shop to raise awareness about youth homelessness in WA and highlight the vital role of Op Shops in our community. This initiative is student led and involves encouraging our PCACS community to clear their wardrobes of unused clothing and donate them to the Service Learning committee. These students then organise a market to sell these donations, with all proceeds benefiting Anglicare directly.
Crazy Hair Day
PCACS is involved in a yearly Crazy Hair and Funky Sock Day to raise funds for Canteen Australia and World's Greatest Shave. Alongside this, we often have students involved in the Shave for a Cure initiative, raising funds for the Leukemia Foundation.
Anglicare Sleepout
Year 11 and 12 Service Learning students are invited to take part in the Anglicare Sleepout at Optus Stadium, raising funds for Anglicare.
Junior School Colour Run
In 2024, our Junior School students (from Pre Kindergarten to Year 6, across both Campuses) had a Colour Run which raised much needed funds for All Saints Anglican School in Samoa to update their facilities with some fans to make the heat more bearable in day-to-day learning.
Anglicare Christmas Appeal
The Anglicare Christmas Appeal included a Christmas Hamper Raffle and donations from Rodger Cook MLA and stationary donations from our PCACS Community. These donations and Raffle fundraising meant we were able to fill 50 backpacks with essential items for students starting school in 2024.
Community Cook Ups
PCACS organises regular community cook ups for youth in need at the Y-Shac.
