Last week, Year 9 students officially started The Rite Journey (TRJ) with a meaningful Calling and Departure Ceremony at Shoalwater Reserve. This special event marked the beginning of their year-long journey of growth, reflection and self-discovery.

At the heart of The Rite Journey are four key themes that will shape the students’ experiences throughout the year:

  • Who am I really?
  • How do I get along with others?
  • Is there something more?
  • What is my purpose? What do I have to give?

Guided by their TRJ mentors, students have recently been exploring their personal identity, reflecting on the people and life experiences that have shaped their childhood. The Calling and Departure ceremonies provide the opportunity for students to join their families in celebration of their journey of growth. A particularly moving part of the night was when the students received their letters, written by families and loved ones, filled with memories, challenges overcome, milestones celebrated and significant moments from their childhood.

The evening was a beautiful and memorable occasion, made even more special by a stunning sunset over Shoalwater Reserve – perfectly symbolising the beginning of this transformative journey.
