The World Peace Games is a hands-on, immersive simulation where students tackle some of the world’s most complex and pressing issues, including war, famine, environmental crises and resource shortages. The goal of the game is clear: to help each country navigate dangerous situations and work towards global prosperity.

The core principles of the World Peace Games challenges students to think critically and creatively while fostering collaboration and problem-solving skills. These core principles are:

  • The belief that contradictory elements can and should co-exist
  • The deliberate creation of a complex, chaotic environment to stimulate problem-solving
  • The use of team-based solutions under pressure and urgency
  • Encouraging complex problem-solving in situations that are both collaborative and seemingly competitive
  • Stimulating genuine empathy and compassion by raising the stakes of each crisis
  • Promoting the ability to hold multiple perspectives on an issue at once, while withholding judgement

Over the course of a five day programme, selected Year 5 students from PCACS worked together to negotiate innovative solutions and find peaceful resolutions to 23 simulated crises, each reflecting real world challenges. They were encouraged to use their imagination, critical thinking and collaborative skills to solve problems not only for their own teams or Nations, but for the global community within the game.

Each participant was assigned a specific role, ranging from the Prime Minister of a fictitious nation to the President of the World Bank, with each position carrying its own unique set of responsibilities. The game offered students the opportunity to step into leadership positions, honing their communication, negotiation and teamwork skills as they navigated complex scenarios.

What stood out most throughout the week was the students’ remarkable empathy and compassion. As they worked through each crisis, they consistently demonstrated a deep sense of responsibility and a commitment to finding solutions that benefitted not just their own teams, but the world as a whole.

The World Peace Games provided an extraordinary environment for these students to further develop their cognitive skills and emotional intelligence.

We had three students chosen for awards following the Games as follows:

Zachary received the Best All Round Player award for his exceptional effort and skill in contributing to the game.

Victoria was awarded the Human Rights Award for her creativity, compassion and commitment to supporting those less able to defend themselves, inspiring others to do the same.

Carabelle was awarded the World Peace Game Peace Prize for her exceptional efforts in contributing to global peace.

Through this dynamic and challenging programme, students left with a deeper understanding of the complexities of global issues and a renews commitment to working together to create a better world. Congratulations to all of the students involved, for an incredible 5 days.
