Our Early Learners at the Calista Campus will be busy this term celebrating their wonderful personal growth, reflecting on the Christian message of Christmas and preparing for their transition to the next class.

Coming up in Week 5 at the Open Classroom event, students will lead their parents and guardians on the journey of their learning for the semester. Families are always impressed with the children’s ability to explain the amazing range of learning activities on display and dazzle them with newly acquired interesting facts. You can expect to see students confidently ‘running the show’ and reflecting on the individual progress they have made this year. Open Classrooms are the perfect opportunity for families to set some learning goals for Term 4 with their children, to finish the year achieving their personal best. Teachers have many interesting topics to discover with their classes, so we will be investigating and learning until the last minute of the school year!

Our wonderful Year 1s have been fantastic leaders of the Calista Campus this year. They have capably managed Chapels and Assemblies, with confidence beyond their years. They have grown their Learner Strengths with their excitement for finding out about the world, striving for personal bests, and as role models in the playground caring for others. Our Year 1s will share their favourite moments of their time at Calista at their Assembly in Week 9.

Finishing their final year at our Calista Campus is an exciting time for our Year 1s with the Transition Day at the Wellard Campus coming up in Week 5. As a part of this transition, students will be practicing being Year 2s and discovering the interesting opportunities and fun ahead of them next year.

Another group of students getting ready to discover the many exciting opportunities school has to offer are our newest learners. Our Pre Kindergarten and Kindergarten students join us for an Orientation Morning to explore the engaging learning activities in their future classrooms, make new friends and settle into their new routine while parents have an information session about supporting their child’s successful start to school.

A definite highlight to look forward to as the year draws to a close is our celebration of the Christian message of Christmas. The students at Calista will present the Nativity story in two performances on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings in Week 8. This beautiful event links the learning areas of Religious and Values Education, Drama and Music, and enables the children to share in the understanding of the importance of the Christmas Story.
