Peter Carnley Anglican Community School celebrated its annual Operation Op Shop event on 9 August 2024, followed by a number of students participating in the annual Anglicare Schools Sleepout at Optus Stadium. The School community came together to support Anglicare by raising awareness and funds. They raised over $20 000, their highest amount ever. A special mention to Deputy Head Prefect, Christopher Argentino who raised $7612, making him the second highest individual fundraiser for the event.

Leading up to the Operation Op Shop day, the PCACS community generously contributed clothing in good condition for the Op Shop appeal. The school’s YMAD (Youth Making a Difference) students took charge of organising and setting up these items for sale, with the help of their dedicated Service Learning Coordinator, Mrs Melanie Hunt. On the day of the sale, students showcased their best Op Shop fashion and contributed a gold coin donation to participate.

The Operation Op Shop day was filled with engaging activities, including lawn games during lunch and a soup kitchen serving all staff and students. A fashion parade provided an opportunity for students to flaunt their creative outfits, enhancing the festive atmosphere.

Following Operation Op Shop Day, 39 students and 4 staff members participated in the Anglican Schools Sleepout at Optus Stadium, further contributing to the cause.

Principal Ms Felicity House praised the initiative and the student engagement sharing “Operation Op Shop embodies our core values of belonging, respect, spirituality, and excellence. This event not only fosters a sense of community and compassion but also demonstrates our commitment to making a positive impact in the wider community.”
