Peter Carnley Anglican Community School came alive with colour, culture, and community spirit last week as students and staff celebrated Harmony Week—a time dedicated to embracing diversity and fostering a sense of respect and belonging within the school.

The festivities kicked off with a dress-up day and parade at the Calista Campus on Tuesday 18 March, followed by another vibrant dress-up day at the Wellard Campus on Wednesday 19 March. Students and staff proudly showcased traditional and cultural attire, highlighting the rich multicultural fabric of the school.

Adding to the excitement, the PCACS Café delighted taste buds with a week-long celebration of global cuisine. The menu featured an array of international dishes, including Japanese Pork Gyoza and Vegetable Dumplings, Spanish Churros and Chicken Empanadas, Australian Honey Joys and Vegemite Scrolls, Indigenous Roasted Wattleseed Brownies, UK Trifle, USA Pigs in a Blanket and Buffalo Chicken Wings, French Mini Croissants and Profiteroles, Indian Samosas, Italian Meatballs and Arancini and Belgian Waffles.

Beyond the delicious food, students had the opportunity to learn new languages during their lunch breaks in the library, including Swedish, Shona, French, Serbian, and Afrikaans. The week also featured cultural dance performances and creative cultural artworks, providing a deeper appreciation of the traditions and backgrounds that make up our school community.

The celebrations were a resounding success, reflecting the inclusive and diverse nature of Peter Carnley Anglican Community School. Harmony Week served as a reminder of the importance of unity, understanding, and embracing different cultures—values that continue to shape the school's strong community spirit.
