As Term 1 draws to a close and Easter approaches, it is a perfect time to reflect and give thanks for what has been a busy and rewarding start to the year.

At PCACS, we are incredibly fortunate to have a passionate and dedicated team of staff who work tirelessly to create meaningful and nurturing experiences for our students. The past few weeks have been a celebration of generosity, creativity, and community spirit. From the P&F Junior School Discos and RKAS Swimming Carnival to Harmony Week, Crazy Hair Day supporting the World’s Greatest Shave, and our Easter celebrations—our community has come together in such a vibrant and inspiring way. A sincere thank you to the staff, parents, and volunteers whose efforts made these events such memorable experiences for our students.

I am sure all our families will join me in expressing heartfelt thanks for our staff’s commitment, and in wishing them a well-earned and restful holiday break.

Crazy Hair and World’s Greatest Shave
On Crazy Hair Day, six students and two staff members bravely shaved their head or chopped their hair to raise funds for The World’s Greatest Shave. The YMAD and Anglicare Ambassador’s ran this event in support of the Leukemia Foundation and raised a nearly $9,118.00 collectively.  Congratulations to all involved especially those with the courage to chop and shave their hair as a statement about the importance of this cause.

Easter Service
It is fitting to end the Term with an Easter Service, where we gather to reflect on the meaning of Easter. The Calista students held their Easter Service last Tuesday. The Year 2 to 12 students gathered in the KLC on Friday where The Right Reverend Hans Christiansen, Assistant Bishop of Perth, presided over our Easter Service. Special guests included The Reverend Peter Laurence OAM, CEO of AngliSchools, Mrs Lynne Thomson, Chair of the AngliSchools Board and Mr Philip Goldsworthy, Chair of the PCACS Council.

Blessing of the Site – Stage 9
With our Easter Service guests, we also welcomed Noongar Elder Barry Winmar and Courtney Winmar, School Council Members, EIW Architects and Project Managers Bridge42 along with Executive Staff, Prefects, Junior School Captains and Student Councillors for the Blessing of the Site for Stage 9 following the Easter Service. Noongar Elder Barry Winmar performed a Smoking Ceremony whilst Courtney Winmar completed a traditional sweeping of the site. Bishop Hans blessed the site with Holy Water, marking the ground with the Alpha and Omega letters whilst the dignitaries, students and I all turned the soil to mark the building site of this next stage at PCACS. We are excited at the learning opportunities this building will bring to our community.

I wish all our families a joyous Easter and safe, restful holiday. For those of our families travelling, I wish you safe travels and I look forward to seeing everyone back at the start of Term 2.

God bless.
