Last week, PCACS students celebrated one of the most exciting and highly anticipated events in the calendar – Crazy Hair Day!
While it’s always a fun opportunity to get creative and show off wild hairstyles, this year’s event held even more significance. The students were reminded of the importance of raising funds for cancer research, particularly as our very own Service Learning Coordinator, Mrs Melanie Hunt, has been courageously battling cancer over the past year. Mrs Hunt shared her personal journey recently at a Senior School assembly and her bravery in doing so deeply resonated with everyone in the room.
The highlight of Crazy Hair Day was the participation of six students and two staff members who showed incredible courage by shaving or cutting their hair in support of the World’s Greatest Shave. As they took to the stage at lunchtime, the sense of community was evident when the entire Wellard Campus rallied behind them, cheering them on with excitement, creating an unforgettable atmosphere. The 3 students who cut their hair donated their pony tails to sustainable salons, where they will be used to make wigs for those who have lost their hair as a result of chemotherapy.
Thanks to the generous donations from the World’s Greatest Shave, along with gold coin donations, raffle ticket purchases and contributions from both the Wellard and Calista Campuses, the event raised an incredible total of $11,908.53.
This remarkable achievement speaks volumes about the strength and unity of our School community, coming together to make a real difference in the fight against cancer.
