It is that time of the year again where we welcome new students into their Carnley's Cuppas journey. This year, we had twelve enthusiastic new Year Nine students volunteering their time to learn the art of Barista training.
During the training, led by Felipe from Five Sense, students gained hands-on experience learning the art of coffee making; focusing on the importance of taste and the coffee crema. They learnt about the origins of coffee beans and the key to steaming various types of milk.
These new Baristas will continue training throughout Term 4 under the guidance of the Senior Baristas. This mentorship will include lessons in making iced drinks, chai, tea and hot chocolate, as well as the essential customer service skills such as taking orders and using the EFTPOS machine. Additionally, students will learn the importance of cleanliness and organisation by participating in the upkeep of the coffee van. By the start of term 1 2025, each Barista will be assigned their own shifts, with fellow Baristas to put their training into practice.
There is an expectation that students will remain committed to Carnley's Cuppas throughout their schooling, from Year 9 through to Year 12, with each Barista guaranteeing at least one shift per week, or more if they request.
This training inititative not only equips students with valuable skills for the future but also fosters a strong sense of community and teamwork within the Carnley's Cuppas team.
Thank you to Mrs Melanie Hunt and the entire Barista team for their dedication to Carnley's Cuppas. The staff and students at PCACS love their morning drinks!
